Fritos Chili Skillet Pie


I'm really excited about this dish.For those of you who don't know, this is a true comfort food classic from the Midwestern and Southern states. It's something I grew up with, and you can find it in some fast food outlets as well as in local restaurants.

*ingredients :

°1 small yellow onion, cut into cubes
°1 pound of lean beef
°1 can (2 tablespoons taco seasoning
°2 teaspoons chili powder
°1 teaspoon garlic powder
°Salt and pepper to taste
°2 can (15 oz) kidney-bean
°1 (8 oz) tomato-sauce
°1-2 tsp hot sauce
+Optional garnish : sour cream, diced green , guacamole, lettuce, dice tomatoes, olive.
°2 cups shredded cheese
°2 cups Fritos corn flakes

* Instructions :

Heat a large skillet or Dutch oven over medium-high heat.

Adding dice onion, ground-beef, taco seasoning, chili-powder, garlic powder, & salt & pepper to taste.
Cook and crumble the meat for 5 to 6 minutes, until the pink color is gone. Drain the fat if necessary and return the meat to the skillet.

Add the beans and tomato sauce to the pot and stir until combined. Reduce the heat and leave the mixture on a low heat for 10 minutes.

In the meantime, heat the barbecue ovens to high power.

Garnish the chili with half the cheese, then the cornflakes, then the remaining cheese.
Place the tray in the oven under the grill for 2-3 minutes just until the cheese has melted.
Serve immediately with your favorite toppings.
